William ("Bill") W. Stewart, Jr.

Bill was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He left for Mississippi in 1983 to play college football and stayed long enough to get his Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctor from Mississippi College, where he served as Managing Editor of the Law Review.​ 

After law school, Bill returned to North Carolina and clerked for the Honorable Franklin T. Dupree, Jr., Senior United States District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina. After his clerkship, Bill joined the firm then known as Millberg & Gordon and has engaged in a civil litigation practice trying cases in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia ever since.​ 

In addition to his trial practice, he serves as a Certified Superior Court Mediator in North Carolina and Circuit Court Mediator and Arbitrator in South Carolina. 

Bill has defended numerous tort, employment, breach of contract, insurance, and commercial actions in the state and federal courts of the Carolinas and Virginia, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.  He frequently speaks to claims and trade organizations on the topics of transportation law, employment law, wrongful death litigation, and premises liability. Bill continues to defend companies and municipalities in tort litigation, lawsuits involving employment matters and liability arising under the Federal Employers' Liability Act.  Bill has tried cases to a verdict in both North Carolina and South Carolina.​

Bill is married and has six grandchildren.  In his free time, he enjoys fishing, exercising, and gardening. Bill is a long-time resident of Apex, North Carolina, where he is active in his church and community.
