Since its founding, GSS has been a leader in railroad litigation. We represent both Class I and smaller, short line railroads in lawsuits arising from grade crossing accidents, trespasser strikes, and other incidents – including accidents with multiple fatalities and catastrophic injuries – as well as in employee injury suits brought under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act, where the amount of damages is not capped and is set by the jury.

GSS’ attorneys regularly respond to accident scenes, conduct initial investigations, counsel employees on scene, and work with responding local law enforcement. Following the initial investigation, our attorneys help clients gather relevant documents, avoid evidence preservation traps, and select effective company witnesses. As litigation progresses, we use a network of civil engineers, industry professionals, and medical experts to protect our clients’ interests.  Ultimately, our attorneys are skilled trial lawyers, with experience trying catastrophic injury cases on behalf of target defendants in dangerous venues for corporate defendants. While we diligently prepare every case for trial, we routinely provide prompt, objective updates and evaluations so that our clients can evaluate risk and determine strategy.
